It started
with just one guy heading to the Induction alone in a downpour. The
next year, it was a handful of folks. A year later, they decided to
give it a name and a T-Shirt. Now, 16 years later, Betty's Twisted
Acres Hall-of-Fame Weekend has taken on an almost legendary status,
a kind of aura that can only come as a result of the combination of
the perfect place with the perfect people.
Seeing
that the Hall-of-Fame Weekend 14 T-Shirt won't be distributed
at BTA this year (and we don't have any other giveaways for that matter),
the usual $20 donation is being waived.
Don't forget that the NEW
camping area is available
back past the campfire on the way up to the meadow, just in front of
the entrance of the re-done Big Barn. The ground's a little rocky, so
be sure to bring an air mattress if you want to camp here, but the view
of the pond and Tombietown is absolutely dreamy, and the sun won't hit
your tent until 9:30am or so, so the early morning sweats are a thing
of the past!
It's pretty
much accepted at this point that the Hall of Fame Game will no longer
be played on the same weekend as the Hall of Fame Induction, but the
trip to Saratoga Racetrack three years ago more than made up for
it. Once again (and for the foreseeable future), the induction takes place last weekend of July,
which means that Saratoga will be open for business during BTAHOF14!
Bring your bettin' shoes!
