Betty's Twisted Acres Hall-of-Fame Weekend 14 takes place
Thursday, July 27th
thru Tuesday, August 1st, 2006.

For no particular reason at all, BTA HOF14 has been christened The Year of the Moustache. Everyone is encouraged to grow a moustache for Hall-of-Fame Weekend 14.

Directions to BTA

OPP ANNOUNCEMENT

The Office of Potent Potables (OPP), headed by master mixologist Matthew "Matt" Maas, is pleased to announce that they will once again bring a full line of top-quality alcoholic and non-alcoholic concoctions and elixirs for the enjoyment of HOF14ers all around the acreage.

In order to offset the cost of purchasing the booze needed to create such fine fare, the OPP is requesting that anyone wishing to partake in an unlimited amount of these fine beverages pay $20 to Mr. Maas.

Your $20 purchase also gets you the Official OPP BTA14 Soundtrack CD, chock full of great drinking/summer songs! Limited Edition of 25 CDs, so start drinking quick!

Following is some additional information direct from the OPP:

Initial reports from field testers are good--there is a product which is being referred to as "Acreage Punch" during the trial period, and it is a sweet, smooth, easy-drinking beverage that should be quite a hit if it makes the cut. Additional testing is occurring as we speak.

In other news, it was decided that sangria will not be making a "repeat performance" at HOF14. Much like Disney locks away movies in their vaults after a brief run, sangria will make an appearance at a later date. As for returning drinks, the following are "definites" for this year:

--The Old Man's Secret Bloody Mary
--The Regular Sasquatch
--Mimosas
--OJ and Grenadine (a delightful non-alcoholic beverage for those who choose not to imbibe)
--Whiskey (it has not been decided what type at this point--further tasting is required!)

It started with just one guy heading to the Induction alone in a downpour. The next year, it was a handful of folks. A year later, they decided to give it a name and a T-Shirt. Now, 16 years later, Betty's Twisted Acres Hall-of-Fame Weekend has taken on an almost legendary status, a kind of aura that can only come as a result of the combination of the perfect place with the perfect people.

Seeing that the Hall-of-Fame Weekend 14 T-Shirt won't be distributed at BTA this year (and we don't have any other giveaways for that matter), the usual $20 donation is being waived.

Don't forget that the NEW camping area is available back past the campfire on the way up to the meadow, just in front of the entrance of the re-done Big Barn. The ground's a little rocky, so be sure to bring an air mattress if you want to camp here, but the view of the pond and Tombietown is absolutely dreamy, and the sun won't hit your tent until 9:30am or so, so the early morning sweats are a thing of the past!

It's pretty much accepted at this point that the Hall of Fame Game will no longer be played on the same weekend as the Hall of Fame Induction, but the trip to Saratoga Racetrack three years ago more than made up for it. Once again (and for the foreseeable future), the induction takes place last weekend of July, which means that Saratoga will be open for business during BTAHOF14! Bring your bettin' shoes!
